Peronnen
There was a time when we painted our trains in Danish ochre hues—when DSB’s dark red color came from the Jutland soil. The earth and the ochre colors still exist, but the ochre industry and the craftsmanship have disappeared. With the piece of furniture “Perronen,” Thomas Woltmann aims to highlight these lost colors and how they can connect people and nature. “Perronen” is a bench designed to stand on Danish train platforms, and like the old railway carriages, its surface is treated with pigmented linseed oil in raw and burnt ochre from the now-closed ochre works in Løvskal.
